A Fun Afternoon
A request to take some promotional photos yields some great fun shots......
Having a family heavily involved in amateur dramatics can be a total pain at times, especially if it means having to sit through a show I hate, or worse still, have to "work it". I suppose that's what I get for training as a stage manager all those long years ago and having a mother who runs a youth theatre. Sometimes, however, the odd fun opportunity raises it's head over the parapet and I get the chance to shoot some of the promotional images. One such opportunity presented itself last weekend when I was asked if I'd mind taking some photos for Felling Stage Society's upcoming production of "Andy Capp". Actually, asked if I'd mind is probably the wrong phrase considering the committee member doing the asking also happens to be my wife. Not that I mind too much as in the past they have always been pretty good fun with the actors and actress not taking themselves too seriously. Considering this is a musical comedy, we had the chance to really ham it up a bit. When I've done these types of shoots in the past I've usually left it to the publicity officer to tell me what they want, but with the show being about such an iconic character as Andy Capp I knew there was a few shots that we just had to try to get. The problem would be, could we get access to a pub to get them. This turned out to be less of a problem than I thought as the group rehearse right next door to the cricket club bar and so we were able to use part of that. So off we trotted, images in mind and I must admit, it's been the most fun I've had with a camera in my hand for quite some time. I've added a couple of the images here and you'll be able to see the rest of them in the gallery, just have a look in the Events section.
